I'm a Ford racer, but I've owned every body style camaro that has been built, my first new car was a Z28.
I just learned that GM (now Obama Motors) has disbanded the performance division of Chevy and cancelled the 525HP Camaro Z28 because it was "shameful" to build such a car at this time.
I can think of 3 guys who were ready to buy this car, it's exactly what Chevy needs after a 9 year wait. It won't be able to compete with the Challengers and blown Mustangs without it.
I just want you to know I love american muscle cars and think this is totally BS, sorry you have a dildo running the company right now.
BTW, I still keep a small block Chevy (in pieces) in my garage..it's a good luck charm of sorts.

 

It's a bad move to cancel that car.They need it as their flagship vehicle like Ford did with the Mustang.They need to reignite the pony wars.To get us pumped up to buy and american muscle car.

There are plenty of other economy cars to choose from in the line up.They need to keep that Camaro.Yes the have the vette,but that's in a different class.

I've owned camaro's of some sort for over 15years now and guess what. the new one looks like shit, is over priced and over weight and even if I had the money I would never buy the 50kplus 500hp ss one.


not even for the price of the v6. axing that garbage was the right call even if it took a take over to do it.


oh and taxing did not kill gm. the out of control health care shit system drug them into the ground because the union forced them to cover everyone for life. that and thinking everyone would buy 30k plus trucks that knock down 15mpg at best on a good day. is all you need to build. and even then the japs built a better truck, so it was only a matter of time before gm fell anyways. even if bush wouldn't have set back and watched the housing market bullshit run a muck and cause oil prices to trade at 140$ a barrel.

I'm old enough to have seen and driven the original Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs when they were new, and with the possible exception of the Mustang, they are all ugly or too heavy, or both. I love my 05 Vette, but my 08 STI out handles and out accelerates it, without attracting the wrong kind of attention. GM needs the Camaro, just not this ugly version.

I was asked to sign a petition recently at a junkyard....there is some kind of movement going on to stop the selling of used engines.
If you can stop the sale of engines, you stop engine swaps.

Bite by bite is how you eat an elephant, and little by little, if you can create unemployment and make people poorer, those people can be controlled........

Stop the sale of replacement engines, and you can force people onto "public transportation".........that means govt makes decisions for you......you go when they allow you, you go where they allow you,
and you go only IF they allow you......It's no longer about saving the environment, it is about control of people.....governing of people is controlling of people.

first you say obama is trying to turn us all into commies by helping gm, then because gm filed chapter 7. now its smarter to keep and fix up old cars instead of buying new ones.


well guess what... you can't have it both(or all 3) ways. gm is fucked up and draging all the suppliers down with them right now because people are not buying new cars. if they are fixing up old cars, they arnt buying new cars.


see why this is fucked up and unfixable? it needed to be nipped in the butt 10years ago when they first started allowing car lones to get longer and longer. which allowed prices to go higher and higher. because no one cared that it would take 10years to pay off that car/suv was 50-60k if the payments were cheap. then 4 years later they wanted another new one.


it all plain ran a muck. all we can do at this point is watch to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. the time for blame is long long passed. it was many years ago, and they all cashed in short term, fuck the long term. but with the way its all set up, who can you blame? if they didn't make good numbers for their stock holders, the other company would and everyone would have bailed. it was a train wreak waiting to happen.



I would never buy a new car. my last new car was in 2002 and I will never buy new again.. ever.
