LT-1 Sounds like a knock..........
i have a 94 LT-1 camaro, to me it sounds like a rod, but ive been told that some of the automatics break the flywheel adn while driving it "sounds like a rod knock" has anyone ever heard this before?
at engine start up around 1500-2000rpm itll sound like rod knock then go away and you only hear it around 2500-3000 just before a shift, if that helps any.
id like to know if this might be a possiblity before i but another engine and throw in it

well stop running the motor... if it is a rod knock your only going to damage the motor more by possibly throwing a rod, or oblonging the rod. yank the transmission out and check the flywheel. if its not damaged then atleast the trans is disconnected to pull the motor
well thanks for going out of you way and NOT answering my question, i dont drive it, havnt since i first heard the noise, just getting options, but then again, the trans will need to be disconnected either way, so might as well get on it
but my question was, is what ive been told normal? has this happened to anyone else?

Now do like he told you and go take it apart to find out, if you notice tq converter bolts loose, or the flexplate to crank bolts loose, or the flexplate broken, be happy, fix the issue and put it back together.
If not your a small way done with the beeeotch of removing a 4th gens engine.

full on track cars can take a lot more liberties with shit than a street car. bell bottom kits and crazy wheel fitment look cool sliding on a track, but when i want to drive to taco bus, im going to ruin all of that shit. so it just doesnt work for me. function over fashion.

I broken flexplate will sound like rodnock at idle. But once you give it light throttle or hold the rpm's over 1000-1500rpm it will go away. Rodnock will obviously get louder with more load/rpm. If you do have rodnock there will most likely be metal shavings or gold flakes in the oil when you drain it. You can also inspect the flexplate by getting under the car and taking off the inspection cover. Look for damage while somone turns the motor over via the crank bolt.
