Default 5.3 performance potential

I am trying to seach what performance potential of the 5.3 block with not much luck. just wondering how much this horse power the block will handle. I already have a 383 (3970010 block, forged crank and blah blah blah) turboed to the 700+ hp range and want to know if the 5.3 could handle this. thanks

i would assume a little more than the limits of an LS1 since it has a similar if not exact rotating assembly and the fact that it is iron. i have heard of a aluminum block version but i am assuming you mean the abundant iron one. should be able to get up to the 450hp/tq range without much need to dig into the bottom end.

yea, its the lm7. they are not bad at all. you can make the 700hp range with them just as easily as any other ls based block when boost is in the picture

Aluminum block is hard to get, only on E85 4wd models, right?

I just picked up a 2008 5.3l Vortec swapout (gen IV LY5) with 4k miles on it for my Caddy.

the V8 FWD Impalas are 5.3 alumn motors. LS4 is the motor, has LS6 heads. I believe you could also get the 5.3 alumn in the SSR

Quite possible. I heard 5.3l and instantly thought Vortec out of a truck, like mine...
