www.thirdgen.org

Good:
Lightweight
Decent engine bay space
Good suspension design

Bad:
Useless engines
7.5" rear axle
Crappy brakes

Performance tips:
Remove existing engine
Install LT1 or LS1

pretty much if you're familar with foxbodies it's very alike in pro's and cons with the fact the pretty much any part of the stock motor outside of maybe the block isn't gonna get you very far but the chassis are great

I wouldn't go that far.. even a slow f body is a step up from a foxbody for an all around car. I'll give a slite nod to the fox for drag racing, being a little lighter and having an 8.8 stock. but the rear end setup is gay for anything invloving turns. as is the wheel base and tall CG.

while your checking thirdgen.org, check out the big brake upgrades guys are doing for cheap from ls1 camaro or c5's.

that 7 5/8 real is the same one in the ls1's and they hold up a lot longer than most think, and even more so in the lighter 3rd gens. the shorter axles seem to help them last a little longer too.

any 350 or even 400 is a direct bolt in swap for the 305. none of the bullshit you have to deal with in the fox when going from a 302 to a 351. everything is the same.

I agree that going lt1 or ls1 is a waste of time and money unless maybe your going no holds bar'ed and putting the aftermarket lsx block in it and that has motor mounts cast into it for either. so its a direct bolt in as well. just cost a ton of money.

No, it was used as a replacement, for some broken 9 bolts.
It was also available as a GMMP part at the parts counter.

I believe the only production thirdgens it did come in was the 91-92 Firehawks, though dont quote me on that.

Unless its going to be a track only car, or weekend racer, the LT1 / LS1 is a much better idea.

And the LT1 bolts right up just the same, LS1 is very minimal mounting modifications.
