C5 zo6
02 to 04 are the same and you can get an 02 cheap now. Stock 02 and up z06 make about 350rwhp. They get about 32mpg on hwy at 75mph and get around 18mpg around town if you dont drive crazy. There all around good cars and can be made fast for cheap if you know what your doing
Mine gets about 19 mpg's around town but i drive it. Plus i have headers, intake and exhaust. I can't wait till friday (yes tomorrow) when my procharger kit and cam are done and tuned. There is also A huge aftermarket for these cars if you are interested. If you have any more questions just let me know. Thanks Mike

01 was rated @ 385 hp and the 02-04 are rated at 405 hp. 01's are ls1 motors and 02-04 are ls6 motors ( better pistions valves springs cam etc) They actually upgraded the suspension a little bit on 04 with better shocks. But any year you get these cars kick a$$. They are actually getting quite reasonable in price lately. I have an 03 because it was the best deal out there with only 5,426 miles on it and its the 50th anniversary collectors edition. ( all 50th anniversary badges every where) They also made a collectors edition in 04 blue with silver stripes and polished z06 wheels.

just to clarify, the 01 zo6s rated at 385 hp were still the ls6 engine. It did have a slightly smaller cam and non sodium filled valves in the heads as well as a few other small things but it still was an ls6 block with (243) ls6 head castings and an ls6 intake manifold as well

How is the 02-04 Z06 for handling boost? I just bought an 02 and I want to put a roots style supercharger on it. I'm just starting to research it now but I've heard that it doesnt handle boost as well as other motors due to thinner cylinder walls. is that true? someone shed some light on this subject for me. thank you!!

they will handle boost fine up to a point. people always put a maggie or procharger on stock blocks all the time. I believe anything over 500 or 550rwhp you are running on borrowed time on the stock block and that is with excellent tuning. Its been a while since I was looking at boost so I could be wrong on my figures. Check those sites out and see what you come across. Also post some pics!

The stock block is good for up to around 10 psi with meth. i would keep it safe around 6. Im running 8 now with no probs and a good tune. Maggie and keene bell are the roots styles for our cars but must stick with the vortech or procharger as i have (I prefer intercoolers). An intercooler can be added to a roots style just alot more money is involved. Once you start getting up there in rwhp make sure you get a good clutch and good output shafts. This is the best forums for vettes I have found. Alot of people with a lot of knowledge. Thanks mike
