torque converter issues
I am currently installing an used automatic transmission into my 98 Camaro. I am not familiar with automatics because I have been blessed with manuals until now. Please, Is there anyone that can provide some advice concerning the installation of the torque converter. I really feel that it is not properly seated into place. Is there any better advice other than listening for the three clicks method.

well put the torque converter in before you put the tranny in (you can break the pump if not). spin the torque converter with slight pressure on it till you feel it slide into the pump. then all should be well, you can click it in gear and spin the yoke to see if the torque converter enguaged. then bolt it up to the motor and then bolt the torque converter to the flywheel.
I installed the transmission a couple of days ago. I thought that the torque converter was in place, only to find out that it was not. After this costly mistake, I was just wondering if there was a fool proof way of knowing that the torque converter is completely in place, before repeating this horrible fate. Please any more info would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if your mating it to the right setup, it should be pushed away from the flywheel slightly after the bellhousing is completely mounted flush to the back of the engine, then it should slide slightly forward. If you bound the converter against flywheel prior to the mating of bellhousing you should be concerned.
