Car overheated today...Thermostat sticking???

its either that or your radiator cap....

or you have air in your lines

to test the thermo take it out and put it in a pot of water on your stove, set the stove to 180o if the thermo does not open then it's the t-stat, I'd say it's worth a shot to check it out since last I heard LS1 thermos were in the range of 35-40 dollars

i would suggest testing it. no sense it spending the money for a new one just to find out that you still have a problem.

are the fans working? how low was it on coolant? did it overheat or was the gague flaking out?

Mine just did that aswell. I changed my thermostat to another 160 deg and my water pump went 2 days after. It was probably the water pump to begin with
