LT1 Project....Headgasket change...progress with pics inside...
Finally, after about 6 weeks of my Camaro Z28 sitting there with a blown head gasket, i finally get 2 days off in a row to take it apart and change it....today being the first day...
now, we all know that the LT1 motor is typically a pain in the ass to work on...tight spaces, about 1/3 of the motor is underneath the cowl, so it makes it even harder to get your grubby hands in there...but i managed to get my fat hands in there and do what needed to be done.
so far, i got the intake, fuel rails, wiring harnesses, alternator, valve cover gaskets and the pushrods out...whats left is the removal of the exhaust manifolds, and the heads themselves, cleaning, and then of course replacement. what i thought was gonna be a 2 day job...im now projecting 4 days of total work, unless i get a day where its not fucking 90 degrees and more humid than a hot tub then i can probably do it all non-stop.
low and behold, the ultimate surprize...what i found when i pulled off the valve cover gaskets...well, the pics can do the talking from here...i would have to say that it looks like thata shmegma that babies puke up after they are burped, or chunky cumshots mixed with cheese.
sorry about the blur...this camera sucks, im just borrowing it for this

before sticling them back on, Id drop them off and ahve them checked over and freshened up. Now would be the time to give them valve stem seals and what not,
National Cylinder Head is who we use. Drop them off early morning and they are ready later the day or the next day for you 995 of the time.
Damn shame you are pulling them off just to put stock heads back on too

PHINGER YOU GOT ALL THE CASH! Sell your Alero!!
I just noticed Alex and Deacon have the same looking car
btw Phinger, Id get your uncle to replace the stuff in the heads of possible, or atleast rebuild them, I remember you saying they were never worked on, best to get new valve guides/seals/exhaust valves, or you will see your car smoking
