your ebrake being engaged wont cause the computer to pull timing.. the really funny thing is it sounds like what happens when an lt1 optispark takes a shit

if the alt is starting to go, or starting to throw a fucked up signal, that would cause the car to miss, by not giving the ignition enough juice at the higher RPM's. hell, i guess it could throw the brake light also

actually, now that the alt was mentioned I agree. I had a 96 monte OBD II and when the alt went south, it started missing, then as the battery drained the ABS and brake light came on, according to GM, this is to save battery power and allow you to limp home (lights comming on mean that the computer is disabling them so to draw less power). I'd check your alt, battery and wires.
