its not an oil pressure issue. its idle surge. when your rpms drop due to your computer overcompensating air and fuel trying to keep up with that radical cam your pressure drops. it happens any time your rpms drop that low. like others said (and i said) you need tuning bad now.

putting in cheap springs is one sure way of floating the valves and cooking the motor. no doubt.

That should be pretty tuff for street driving. I would've gone higher on the duration

i strongly suggest you upgrade at least your springs now... that cam has too much lift for stock springs they just wont take it... do not wait til you do your heads or you will be sorry... cmon you dont even have to take the intake manifold off to do it.. go to advacned auto parts and get a valvespring compressor, get one of those telescopic magnets, stick the magnet to the valve, compress the spring and take it off... put the new one on, put the retainers and all that shit in and decompress.. do that for all 16.. better than floating a valve

What's wrong with floating valves? I float valves in my 350 all the time. It's like a soft rev limiter

yea, im just waiting for something to break (knock on wood). ive been running the cc305 for just over a year on scock heads/valvesprings/rockers/pushrods). i keep on putting it off until i pull the heads. had to get tuning to bump up the idle though. now it idles perfect. thinking about going to the cc306 when i pull the heads, but i like the sound of the cc305.

ps...scott, you wanna help me do the springs for now till i pull the heads?...and 1.6 rr's

sure.... look on ebay for comp 987 they are 75 bucks plus like 7 bucks shipping... good springs brand new.. ill help you, also get stock length (7.2") chromoly hardened pushrods, a nice set of guide plates and NSA 1.6 roller rockers... other random stuff you will need is retainers, valve stem locks... bla bla bla.. probably only take a few hours tops

quite honestly if you are going to do the 1.6 rockers wait until you have the heads off... you are gonna see some much better gains from that mod once you have a nice 3 or 4 angle valve job and you get the spring seats and stuff all lined up.. just my .02... a good 3 angle valve job on stock 1.5 ratio rockers, stock valves and stock springs can net you anywhere from 2-4 hp per cylinder.. the machine work is where the power is picked up not in the 1.6 rockers.. yeah you will get a bit more lift but what good is that lift is the valves arent closing at top quality? how long til your planning on taking the heads off?
