Default LS1 camaro's w/cams in here please.

Anyone have a camaro or firebird preferably an '01 with a cam willing to teach me? I am looking for as many rides in cammed ls1's as possible to get a better understanding of differens lsa's etc. I am in market for my first cam and want to figure out exactly what to get. Thanks.

Move this to GM tech, plenty of LS1 owners in that forum.

BINGO! Yes, I have one in my car, but I think my heads suck so I am missing a few ponies. I love the cam though.

country, what is your Max rpm? Does the car idle/drive good? Would you care to meet up with me and give me a ride?

duration dictates power range (ie. 195* could mean peak power at 4500rpm, while 230* could mean peak at 6000rpm)

lift dictates power for the most part just make sure you have the valvetrain support for it, you may see peakier TQ #'s with large lift cams, but for a street car i doubt youd get a cam that large.

LSA is just that, lobe seperation..depending on what your wanting to do, this is a key thing. stock is like 116..114 is more geared towards FI cars, <112 is more for NA cars. pretty much want to find a happy medium to stay away from valve overlap (when intake and exhaust valves are both open at once)

It all depends on what you want and your idea of streetable. The cam is big, I guess. It idles perfect for me and I spin my motor to 7000 RPMs and shift at 6800. Peak is at 6300, but thats low for this cam, I believe. Like I said, it all depends on what you want to live with. The bigger the cam, the more trade offs and yeah, we could meet up sometime and I can take you for a ride.... hehehehehe
