All my mid level LS1 (Non-LS6/6.0 castings) based heads flow right at or just over 300 @ 28"s H2O and at .600 lift. Where the importance/difference is....Is in the balance of exhaust to intake flow ratio across the curve, and the flow curve of both for different apps. RevX' heads are suited more for what they want in a package. And to be perfectly honest with you...The formula so far is working pretty damn good.

Glad to read the good words..I certainly appreciate it. I'd also like to say hey to everyone here, and compliment the site.

Also I would like to clarify our relationship with RevX, and my LS headwork. We've been working with Dan and Dino, to put together some kickass stuff. Currently RevXtreme has an exclusive deal with me and their particular line of heads. We have been working together to come up with some rock-solid packages. The heads I do for them are dyno proven, and designed to work with their overall package of camshaft exhaust etc. These heads are only available through them. Also, their particular line of heads are different than what I offer through my shop. Their heads actually have certain things different about them to fit with RevX's needs. For example, their mid level head actually has more work in some key areas than my 5.3 based "Big Uglies", or my 6.0 forced induction head.

My only part is porting baddass heads, and I don't know squat about aftermarket availabilty of parts for these cars. I also don't do installs or have any of the facilities that they do to offer what they can. This is where our relationship works so well...As a team..They do their part and I do mine.

The bottom line is...They take care of us..And we take care of them. So, If you want the numbers that they are getting....The head design/line is owned by them. So give THEM a call (They'll actually sell to you cheaper than I would IF I sold them direct to the public). If you want a set of Big Chief heads for a 700" nitrous motor..That's a different story..In that case...Give ME a call..LOL

Thanks
Felber
So... about those big motor heads... I have a 489 with some GM 990's I need ported...

I have seen some of Felbers LS1 stuff up close...very high quality!!
Getting 300 cfm out of the regular LS1 casting is TOUGH to do. Most end up in the 260-280 range.

The 6.0 and LS6 is a bit easier...but more expensive as well.

Other LS1 porters that I like are Total Engine Airflow in Kentucky (who is doing my heads) and Meaux Racing heads in Louisiana that does Allan Futrals heads (Vinces badass 408 ). The rest like MTI, Absolute, GTP, and several others can be hit and miss IMO.

However..there is something to be said about using whats local. And Felber has as much knowledge and experiance as anyone...and is local!

Guys...watch the non sponsor pimping of shops. RX/Felber is not a paying sponsor here (although they are working on that).

Keep this post geared towards information only. Blatent sales will be edited. Please no ph #s or pricing...just info.

97BLKZ I edited your post a bit.

I'd put Mike up against any porter in the country, just short of the Nascar level...
He's that good!

Brian, we have worked with Bob on a few sets of heads that worked very well. The prices were very affordable, and the results were impressive, such as the setup in Ryan's WS6, which made well over 440 rwhp and 390 rwtq with our custom ground cam.

I have to make a correction in your post though, because the "XXX" heads are from Felber. While our shop hasn't established an "Exclusivity" contract with Felber yet (which we will be honored when it comes to that), Mike has designed an "Exclusive" line of heads to suit our every need. What that means is this line of multi-level heads will be sold exclusively through Rx only, and not be available through another shop.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being a sponsor to TR again, if they give us the green light. At that point, I will go into the finer details of our projects, and different levels of engine packages for the LT1, LS1, LS6, and LS2.

Thanks for the great words. I also would like to offer an appology, if it seemed like I was pimping my shop. And any who know me realize I'm not much into promotion....I just posted in defence/clarity of RevX, and my affiliation. I hope they step up and become a sponsor, since I'm more than sure it will pay off. Speaking for my shop....I think it would be a conflict of interest, and not what I want.

If my post/response was interpretted as spamming/promoting...It wasn't intended.

As for flow #s.....I have great respect for other head porters in the know..After all...They're in my same shoes. Some are on a limited lifespan, and some have potential untapped. BUT there are some who down-right have their act together.,..Some of which were named.

My input, and WHY 300+ from a LS1 head is TOUGH... Most people aim at the PORT, and forget about the chamber...It sickens me when I see people say that a 317 (6.0) head flows the same as a 243 (LS6) head just because the ports are modeled/cast after the other...Food for thought...Airflow is dictated as much in the EXIT of the valveseat as it it is on the entrance.

And BTW....I shall confess....My numbers on MY 5.3 "Big Uglies" are on a 4" bore........Bear in mind..I've gone a LONG way to not make flow numbers part of my game, and/or promoted my heads....I'd be perfectly happy if all I did was educate some people and see some shops do well...I have zero stake in this game from a personal perspective. From a business perspective...I guess I do....But it's bias, not promotion.....Was that confusing enough? LOL

Thanks for reading

Yes...big difference between the two as far as chamber goes. That 6.0 head usually stalls hard at .600-.620 lift from what i have seen. Although Meaux gets them to flow to .700 somehow.

The LS6s seem to do much better in the high lifts...but for most hyd cam LS1s...they will not see in excess of .575 actual valve lift anyways. So for most i guess the 6.0s are a bargain.

Felber...what valves have you seen working well in these heads? Ferrea? Manleys?

And whats your thoughts on low to mid lift flows vs peak flows?? Do you concentrate on one VS the other...or just across the board?
