Not sure of any vin identification or if you could look it up, but one somewhat easy way of doing it is this ...

Put the rear of the car on jackstands, get under the car, put a chalk mark on the driveshaft, have a friend spin the wheel one full rotation and count how many times the driveshaft spins.

If it spins 3 1/4 times you have 3.23s, 2 3/4 times you have 2.73s .

here is a way easier way...look on the side door, look for the code GU5 or you can do the jackstands, your choice

i looked on the car ....no GU5 code but i found a GU2 so im guessing im stuck with the 2.73 's

a 2.73 geared ls1 will still move well. dont be fooled into think that big gears will help out that much when you enter the world of big convertors. a good friend of mine races his 2.73 geared 3700 lbs TA (he is a fatty) with the same convertor and runs mid 11s on a mild head and cam package. the last thing i would personally worry about is rearend gears.

+1 on the gears, the only reason i changed mine was b/c I got a new rearend

yeah, im not too concerend with the gears i just thought with a bigger stall say 3200 that 3.23 gears would help tighten things up on the street ?
