once again i rely on TR to help me, i voulteered to help a girl change the belt on her 1997 Trans Am. basically i know nothing about Lt1's or Ls1 which ever it is. how do i loosen the tension to remove the old belt?

i know its prolly purdy simple but i have never messed with these engines. all i know is i couldnt see a belt tensioner like my ford has and i have no clue how to get that damn belt off.

 

belt tensioner is under the alternator, near the sway bar, its a 12mm but be careful you get a good angle on it cause when it coils back up the wrench may get pinned on something...its like a 5 minute thing to change the belt.

 

sweet, so now i can look like i know what i'm doing and maybe ill get a lil "under the table action" afterwards.............doubt it

 

Make sure to fake a few "ouch's" and makeit seem really hard to do. You need to make her feel like she OWES you...LOL

 

 

even better, gotta make it sound technical when im doing it.
