Default How to remove a manual shift knob question

I want to remove the manual shift knob on my '97 Saturn SC2 and install a new knob. Does anyone know how to remove the old knob? I tried google but found nothing and checked the owners manual. I did read a post on another board where the guy was removing the knob on a '99 Saturn and he was told to just place the stick in 2nd and pull hard. That the knob was only held in by two clips.... Any help is greatly appreciated
