Put the fan on a switch. Get another fan or take the thermostat out during the summer.

I dont understand ?? You have a hypertech and set the thermostat for 160 but u dont have an aftermarket thermostat?
Did u mean you dont have an aftermaket thermostat and u set the Fans to activate at 160 degrees?.

You should actually set the fans to kick on at 170 at the earliest. Unless it is really really cold it'll always run at 170 degrees or warmer. You should get an aftermarket thermostat for 160 because if its at 180 the fans setting at 160 or 170 arent really helping a whole lot plus thermostats are like what 10 bucks?

Get cold air induction if u dont already have it, do a throttle body bypass on the coolant too if u havent yet.
When your slowing down after the 1/4 pop the hood.. temp will drop pretty fast with all the air rushing in there.. just make sure your latch works properly so your hood doesnt fly off.

As far as I know, thermostats are made basically of a piece of wax and cannot be reset to another temp. The Thermostat controls the lower temp of your coolant and the fan controls the upper temp. If you rig your fan so that its running at all times, you wont heat up much higher than your thermostat's openning temperature. Also, your air conditioning and your heater are run off of seperate systems. You can pull the entire A/C system out and run the heat just fine.

He does pop his hood. The thing is it only gets hot while sitting. That means the fans should maybe stay on a little longer some how? Btw it will be at around 180-200 driving 210+++ sitting. Thats because the water inside is not moving and not cooling properly.

Then he should stick with the fan switch because you can turn them on while the car is off and it can at least cool the coolant in the radiator. Like I said earlier, $30.00 from SpeedSpecialty would get him a good fan switch, but like ZDriver said, TB bypass and a 160* thermostat is mandatory for LT1s as well. BTW Hypertech sucks.

check out camaroz28.com and do a search ... theres lots around.. basically just look at the TB, unplug both rubber hoses from the Lower part of the TB and re-connect them using a plastic pipe. Yeah hypertech isnt good for a whole lot.. money better spent in real tuning equipment.
