LS2=debuting the new '05 Vette; 400hp

LS6=currently available in Z06 Vettes only, but soon in Cadillac CTS-V and maybe GTO; 385-405hp

LT5=from '90-'95 ZR1 Vette, designed by Lotus, built by Mercury Marine, the only OHC in this group; 375-405hp

LS1=from '97-'04 in Vettes/'98-'02 in F-bodies/'04 GTO; 305-350hp

LT4=only in '96 GS and 6-speed Vettes; 330hp

LT1=from '92-'96 in Vettes/'93-'97 in F-bodies/'94-'96 Impala SS, Caprice and Roadmaster; 260-305hp

L98=from '84-'91 in Vettes/'87-'92 in F-bodies; 220-250hp

There are also versions of some these engines in the GM truck line but that's even more specifics that I don't care to get into. Others care to chime in ?

The 4th-Gen WS6 Firebird started in '96 in either Trans Am or Formula trim. The Formula version died in '00 I believe.

From '96-'97 it had a Ram Air LT1 was rated at 305hp; from '98-'02 it had a Ram Air LS1 good for 320hp. The LS1 cars are underrated BTW. Basically the advertised hp is what a lot of people get at the wheels. The LT1 on the other hand is pretty much correct for hp at the flywheel.

Yeah, I didn't mention those cause they were very,very limited. There were also a few '96 or '97 Firehawks equipped with the LT4. Definitely not regular production models.

The reason I asked is becuz I really like the T/A's alot and was lookin into gettin one........the one with the LS1 in it what were it's times in 1/4 mile if anyone knows??? Are the parts for these cars just as intergchangeable as hondas??

Virtually any LS1 equipped T/A, with or without the WS6 package, will easily go deep in the 13's off the lot with a good driver.

I know the WS6 models look sweet, but you could save money going for a regular T/A unless you really want a WS6 car; the only major thing you will lose is the Ram Air hood, 17-inch wheels, and heavier duty suspension, otherwise there really is no difference between a regular T/A or WS6 version.

You ask about interchangeability? Yeah, I guess a lot of parts will interchange for the LS1 years from '98-'02, like the intake manifold and heads and such, but you really can't go wrong with any year you get because the basic engine is so good from the factory...no need to swap motors like you Honda guys. Just do a search and see if you can live with some of the quirks associated with owning these cars ie.) huge dash, cheap plastic, etc. I know I can.
