Default Whats a stock LS1/LS6 bottom end gonna handle??

Anyone have any idea what kind of power a stock LS1/LS6 bottom end can handle. I think I may have passed the threashhold and may need to de-jet a little bit or dish out mucho $$$ for forged internals. I have heard around 500rwhp is about the max. Anyone?

500 is the max safely on a LS1. Not sure about the LS6 but im sure its more.
Guys are running more than that on stock bottom ends.
Kinda cross your fingers, and hope that you have a good tune.
You could get away with more than 500wrhp. Depends on your driving habits too.
If you have a LS6 with intake/exhaust + 150 shot you should be fine if its tuned to be progressive and not jet 150 all at once. Plus have all the safety features and good plugs etc....

There has been 550 ish lately on a safeish tune...it's not really the pwoer that seems to kill LS1/6's Its the constant high 6700+ revs and detonation/lean conditions. I think they would be good to go around 600 myself.

Its not really HP levels. It generally two seperate items that kill bottom ends.
1) too much cylinder pressure in the way of a power adder such as nitrous...and most of the time its detonation that is the kicker.
2) Too high rpm. Rod bolt failure.

#1 actually does NOT always compund #2. If you can tune well in between both...you have a good recipe for long lasting power.
But...having said that...id say 550 rwhp.
I know of one stock bottom that has been going strong at 550-600 rwhp for quite some time now

So actual power isn't the culprit? Lean conditions and detonation are the biggest problems.

I guess if you cross that line, break your bottom end, well, It needed to be replaced anyways.

Motor can handle 600 rwhp as lomg as you dont detonate. At 200 HP if you ping it..will break all kinds of stuff.

My car makes 475 RWHP and its 231 cubic inches on cast pistons.. 2 years running unopened motor.

tune tune tune

YOUR vehicle should have no problem with 6700RPM as 6600 is the stock limiter on the Z06. When a cam is installed it is common pratice to bump that on up to 7000+, the LS6 is much stronger. Yes detonation and Lean problems are the culprit to must engine failures but again the LS6 doesnt knock nearly as much as the LS6. We have a supercharged Z06 w/ 560RWHP (local) stock bottom end and no probs. I would have no problem taking an LS6 to 7000Rpm with 600RWHP. Been there and done that. No worries.

Jeremy, did you mean that the LS6 doesn't knock as much as an LS1? (You put LS6 for both)

Rob Raymer that does those turbo LS1's replied to a letter in GMHTP about the same question and said that a stock bottom-end LS1 can handle 600rwhp. But I guess it's different with a turbo since you don't really have to spin the motor to 7K. 600rwhp translates to about how much hp at the fly? 750-800?

Arnold man... didnt get to see u the rest of the track night!

Approximently 680-740 flywheel hp. Depending on flywheel, driveshaft, 10 bolt or 12 bolt or 9inch, 4L60E or other auto or t56.
