Turns out the problem was simply that the belt on the alternator wasn't tight enough, the bolt on the tension adjuster had fallen off... kinda wierd...

I had a problem with my car several years ago. Car basically died in rush hour traffic on 275 heading into work. I got the car off to the side of the road, ran to the school nearby, called work told em I was having car trouble wouldn't be in.

Had the guy tow the car to his garage, they found out the alternator was loose. Tightened a bolt, and I was headed home for the cost of a tow.

Glad it was something simple.

I've also had a water pump go bad before. It seized up, keeping the belts from turning. Perhaps you had several problems at once. It's not easy diagnosing starting problems, sometimes replacing anything it COULD BE is the only way to find out.

I find it funny someone is having as much trouble with a '95 as I've had with my 10+ yr old cars.
