2002 Camry
Ok...stop laughing...yes I own a Camry...but does anyone know how to get around the freakin 5900 rev limiter? I get pissy when I get movin and that damn rev limiter kicks in...I know that the motor will spit out a few more revs....come on it's a freakin 4....you can hurt something that small can you?

I'm gonna hafta assume the rev limiter is set where it's at for a reason......if you could rev the crap out of motors to unlimited RPMs, rev limiters wouldn't have been invented.
If you wanted a fast car, maybe you should have considered something other than a Camry.....or just be glad that you have a car at all.

i didnt realize the new ones had such a low limiter. i would expect from the v6 but damn. i know toyota lowered the new gt-s celica's revlimiters from 8k to like 6700rpm in 2002 because people were blowing them up and were downshifting into 2nd from 5th and shit. i dunno.
only way you'll get around it is if you get an ecu reprogram or maybe some of those msd or hks ignition units will let u change it but i dont know about those that much i never had one. pretty much out of luck with that. unless you're really smart you can probably get around it using some diodes and shit from radio shack. try google i think i seen ecu hacks before somewhere.

Leslie is right. The engineers set it there for good reasons like either valve float or rod/piston strength limitations.
Do not fuck with that kind of stuff unless you have upgraded your internals.

I would just make sure that you know what the engine package is capable off. Usually there is someone out there who has already tried a mod and can share the results, be it good or bad.

I would be careful with trying to get rid of the rev limiter. Like it's already been mentioned, it might be because engineering put it that way or because they don't want people messing with it.
So what? At least he has a car. He isn't switching it every week.
I have a Kia, you got a problem with that?
