Cost of Importing a Car?
I was looking around on this website that posts cars for sale in Japan. I came across an R33 GT-R and it was only listed for $5,800. That seems like a great deal on car like that. I then thought that it is priced so low because the price to ship it to the states would be very high. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to ship a car from Japan to the U.S. [TABLE]

it is almost ridiculously expensive to import a legal car... and much more so to import a car that isn't legal.
Do some research into and make some phone calls to importers to get the most up to date info.
Last I looked into it (not for a skyline) it was going to cost 10 grand. give or take some for taxes and shit like that.

Though Empire is correct on the cost of it in the end. But buying it from one of those companies is almost always a lot more than if you found someone to ship it for you from the location. I would just grab another nissan and do a rb26dett swap.
Can't open the site from my computer right now for some reason, but the main URL is - www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/
Then, the list of non-conforming vehicles eligible for import.. Or something like that, it's been a long while since I gave up on importing one.

Prolly about 6-10k + taxes and Think the only way to do it and not have to worry about the US government Exporting it is to Ship it to Canada then register it there and such, then Bring it to the states and Register and insure it. I could be wrong but i used to know a guy who imported cars years ago.
