Default how to take paint off polyurthane body bit

i was wondering how to get paint of a poly urthane body kit. the steps on just stripping the paint thats all i need to know

Sand it then primer for paint,Why do you need to go al the way down the the material?

i just need to know what to do just to get the paint off of it.i dont want to mess up the urthane. what kind of grid sand paper. i just want to take all the old paint off.

Why is that the new cool thing for ricers, drive around with unpainted rice kits?
