A person stops on a yellow, because it is about to turn red....... because if the
light turns red while that person is in the intersection, it is then counted as running
a red light.

It's my understanding that cameras are installed at some Tampa intersections to
photograph motorists who run red lights........that is what this thread is related to.

Does anyone have a quote from an actual Florida traffic law, complete with statute
number, so we can see for ourselves what it "clearly states"? -Bob

 

How long have you been driving, and you still don't know you can make a right on red? Assuming the fact that there isnt a "no right on red" sign, in that case, obviously you cant make a right on red.

Here's the information for you, since you're too lazy to type a few keystrokes into google:
316.075 Traffic control signal devices.—
a. The driver of a vehicle which is stopped at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or, if none then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the intersection in obedience to a steady red signal may make a right turn, but shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and other traffic proceeding as directed by the signal at the intersection, except that municipal and county authorities may prohibit any such right turn against a steady red signal at any intersection, which prohibition shall be effective when a sign giving notice thereof is erected in a location visible to traffic approaching the intersection.

 

If you enter the intersection in a yellow light and proceed through and it turns red you are not in violation.

I think your first statement is correct Bob.

Eliminating all the legal if's, and's and but's here is K20AS's post. There is no mention of a yellow.
From Graves link it is apparent that the yellow is a warning that you do not have enough time to go through the intersection. A judge will likely rule against you if you stop at the yellow then turn right and are in the intersection as the light changes to red.
In simplest terms, if the light turns red after you've entered the intersection, you are in violation regardless of if you are turning right or not.

Don't blame me, blame the lawyers.

It would benefit all of us if you would post the actual wording of a statute (as K2 did) instead

1.If the links you posted say that a person can enter an intersection under a yellow light,
are you willing to post that part?....... including the statute number?

2.I was under the impression that the cameras were present to take a cars
picture while in the intersection under a red light.

Am I understanding that you are saying that when the camera takes your
cars picture in the intersection once the light has turned
from yellow to red that they will not mail you a ticket?

If you believe that it is a legal defense to say in court that you entered an intersection
under a yellow light and it became red while you were in the intersection, I'm not going

Few things in this world are as universally despised as traffic cameras. After his wife received a ticket for tripping a red-light camera, Oregon resident Mats Järlström openly criticized the Orwellian devices and the mathematical formulas these cameras use. It seems Big Brother doesn't take too kindly to dissenters, as according to the Institute for Justice Järlström was fined $500 for violating a law that prohibits mathematical criticism without a license.

Free speech is a term that's often misconstrued. It's not some blanket to hide behind while spouting ridicule and hate to anyone and everyone. In the US, what free speech does protect is the right of a person to openly criticize the government, as Järlström was doing when he argued that the equation which governs the traffic light timers was out of date. After being fined, Järlström filed a lawsuit against the ban on mathematical debate.

The Institute for Justice says the actual fine was for Järlström calling himself a "professional engineer." The thing is, Järlström does have a degree in electrical engineering, though he doesn't carry a state license. In Oregon's eyes, that doesn't make him a real engineer. Järlström's initial issue was that the green-yellow-red progression was too short for lights with a left or right turn. Using his engineering expertise, he began to criticize the math equation that governs this timing, hence the fine.

Järlström and the Institute for Justice claim these licensing boards violate free speech by fining those who criticize both the boards and the government agencies behind things like traffic cameras. A lawyer for the Institute for Justice makes the point that you don't need to be a licensed lawyer to write an article disagreeing with a Supreme Court decision. Free speech, whether used to challenge Supreme Court decisions or traffic cameras, is a fundamental freedom granted by US Constitution.

And it's also no stretch to say that using mathematics is a fundamental human right - part of what actually makes us human. No law can take away our math.
