Straight line, it will not compare to the srt-4. With some basic upgrades, it can be a quick (14's, maybe 13's at most) good handling car. Talk to pseudorealityx in the mazda forum, he's been trying to set some of the other mazdaspeed protege owners straight, he knows what he's talking about.

If its between the SRT-4 and the Mazdasport then

Carfucious say:

Fixing suspension, is more reliable than boosting power....

Bah! I should have known better than to post right after that mspeed guy without checking the dates. He's been dragging up old topics and spreading misinformation and mucking things up all over the place. He was arguing with pseudorealityx in the mazda forum and losing badly, but persisting with his flawed arguments.

The thread in the Mazda forum isn't so bad, as long as you ignore the idiots...

If you like the idea of a factory hotrod, and don't really want to push the envelope in terms of power, this might be the car for you. The car has about the best driver interface I've ever driven, something I think Mazda is GREAT at... and something you cannot put a number to in a magazine.

Also, skidpad and slalom numbers don't do this car justice. Drive one and you'll see.

FWIW, I've driven a number of ITRs and they allow good, they still feel vague to me.

Nice old post. Yeah, Mazda sent them a MS Protege with shaved tires so they could get better handling numbers. Sad. They don't even need any help in the handling department.

Which is ironically something Dodge is famous for. Most of the ACR's that have been tested in the last year or so came with shaved BFG KDs, and the alignment with almost -3 degrees of camber...
