how many people on here do you think will actually understand that stuff? or be able to apply it to thier driving?

Anyone who knows how to drive and slide a car up to and past its limits intuitively understands almost everything on that site.

Most people just don't understand the mathmatics and physics well enough to see it as a bunch of equations on paper. Who needs to besides us engineers anyways.

A person does not need to know the formal physics of aerodynamics and ballistics to throw a curve ball.

I find the equations somewhat useful when morons try to tell me that their newest suspension mod allowed them to take corners 10 mph faster....which, usually relates in ACTUAL terms to improving their lateral G by something like .4 G, which is, of course, completely absurd.

But yeah, engineering types DO like this sort of stuff, even of the basic concepts are relatively easy to understand. Something like a chassis dynamics book might be better for 400HP930 though. But I'm sure he's already read Miliken...something I haven't done yet, so I just pick the minds of my friends who have...

Its sometimes hard to combat the morons though even when you have the scientific certainty of physics on your side.

On another porsche bbs me and another engineer who actually works for boeing as an aerodynamacist were trying to answer some questions about vehicle aerodynamics and lift.

Despite nailing down the subject, with the other guy going as far as to do computer flow analysis for the question at hand there were people who didn't believe us.

Some posters claimed we were just arrogant engineers who were using arcane and approximate book knowledge to try to back up our argument but since it did not gist with how they thought things worked we were wrong.

It was about as bad as the 'how turbos work' thread that has popped up here a couple times since I have been on the board.
