WRONG!

No car needs backpressure for performance. Never ever ever ever ever ever.

Going too big on the exhuast will INCREASE exhuast pressure.

Small diameter exhuast = high exhuast velocity.
Exhaust exits the engine quickly. Possibly use exhaust gas inertia to scavenge gases out of combustion chamber.

Too big diameter exhuast = low exhause veolocity and higher backpressure.
Gas comes out of header, hit a bigger 'tunnel', expands, and slows down. Exhaust coming out after this hits the wall of gas that just expanded and slowed down. Backpressure goes UP!

Thus, bigger pipes (or straight pipe) =/= HP gain.
Bigger pipes will net a louder car most of the time though.

Gotta make sacrifices for performance right?

*Doesn't know wtf a Beretta is, much less know wtf it sounds like. Probably sounds better than a civic + fart can though.

Ditch the cat and keep the muffler or keep the muffler and ditch the cat. But don't ditch both.

you really have to have the right combo or a lot of horsepower to benefit from a straight pipe. Common cars do not.

"use to drive a neon" and use to drive a neon that would run down almost any Honda civic on here lol.... My neon did have a straight pipe and was loud as hell but also ran high 12's. I also had an exhaust with a big muffler that i put on it when i wasn't racing to keep it nice and quiet.

face palm coming from a sig pict of a hatch with a body kit front bumper and a jap tag in the front window, then a "LOL" from a guy selling carbon fiber vinyl vehicle wrap?
