Default Can FDOT pull you over?

I've been seeing alot of F-DOT police cars driving around down here (Ft. Lauderdale area) and I've seen mention that DOT-cars can pull you over somewhere else.

So basically, do they pull people over and them ass rape them or are they looking for other shit?

They're mainly interested in commercial vehicles and tractor trailers.

Technically, they can pull you over for faulty equipment, but it's very unlikely they do unless you're driving around with your bumper hanging by one bolt, or you have a pickup truck with tanks of chemicals/gases and it isn't properly placarded.

Yeah, from my experience FDOT primarily likes to hassle the truckers about burned out accessory light bulbs on their trailers and mundane shit that doesnt even matter...Although it is entirely possible for them to pull you over if you happen to catch their attention..they are a florida highway enforcement agency

they will also hassle you if your car smokes.
they can give you crap about a fart cannon exhaust.
and they really like getting the punks driving 240's that are slammed on their balls so bad that they kick up busted reflectors as they change lanes.

But generally, they go after the truckers. Usually for dumb shit like accessory lights. But they do keep an eye out for crap stacked up that isn't secured properly, or if the trailer is overweight and squishing the tires down, stuff like that.
Personally, I treat them like any other law enforcement. Don't catch their attention and avoid them all together if at all possible.

If they only have orange lights (those community patrol guys), they can't pull you over. Those guys are usually called to scenes to do accident reports and allow the FHP or SO to move on to more important calls.

DOT is big with commercial stuff - they will pull you for a burnt out bulb and check your certifications to make sure they are up to date, as well as some other business-type checks they do. I'm all for them pulling over idiots with slammed cars, being that most people that low haven't done it properly.

FDOT needs to pull over the damn truckers who have chains dangling and scraping on the floor throwing sparks and also the semi trucks who have their trailer brakes on while driving on the HWY. How the hell can't they see their own smoke from the back or smell the damn brakes burning. Mind boggles me.

that's what they are there to do.
There just isn't enough of them.
personally, they should cut highway patrol pretty much all together and get more FDOT cars out there.
