Mazda RX-7 isn't Ford though. Ford has never been a part of the RX-7. It had other projects it was involved when it bought stake into Mazda in the late 70s. Mazda helped ford out with the B-series sold in the U.S. The development of the Explorer, The probe, and a few other vehicles. To call an RX-7 a Ford holds no value or weight.

A lot of hard work for minimal advantage, i do like the ls1 in a 240 tho, u can pick up the motor for $1500, a nice shell for a grand, and for under 5k you can run dam near 10's with stock motor and bottle.
A lot of ls1 swapped FDs are around 2600lbs, the LS1 actually weighs less than the stock 13b.

^Not quite. I think 2800lbs was the number you were looking for, which is a little less than the stock weight. It's kind of a grey area, because each car adds and subtracts different things with the swap, but the most even comparison as documented on a single car (bone stock FD to very basic LS1 Hinson swap, with AC and PS included) ended up at 22lbs over the starting weight. If you really care, you really ought to (corner) weigh the car to find out where it's at, as conjecture based on some other guy isn't going to get you very far. It's not a bad idea if you already planned on doing an alignment or something else already.

Most swappers end up very close to 2800 lbs, and most swappers don't kick themselves for not buying a Corvette. There's a lot more to the RX7 than Corvette - 300 lbs + triangle motor, and if you think otherwise, then I would advise you to get the Corvette, as I'm sure the differences wouldn't matter as much to you as they would to those who swap their 7s.

OP, I know of at least 5 other red V8 FDs in the Tampa area, and one black one (though I don't know that owner), so you're in good company if you ever want help/advice/parts. Do you have any near or distant future plans for the car yet?

I saw it has Eibachs and stock shocks. That could use a tweak. There have been more and more great brands of coilovers either coming out or becoming more readily available in just the past year or two (Pettit Track Pro, Ohlins, to name a couple...), so you're in good times.

yea, those were the first things I chucked... I got it aligned and corner balanced, just ordered a sway bar, and some sticky rears to try and dial out some oversteer issues.

Updated with recent pics.
Added new wheels, Exhaust, Shine Auto spoiler, StopTech's, Coilovers, Sway Bar, and complete repaint in Viper Red. The car is everything I had hoped for, and I am extremely happy with it.
