An automatic convertible? He saved about 200lbs over a Z06, cool swap....but why? Kinda like the guys who swap in a LS1 into a SN95 Mustang and try to sell them for 10k when the chassis has no weight or handling advantage over a regular fbody.....shoulda just left it in the Camaro. A lot of hard work for minimal advantage, i do like the ls1 in a 240 tho, u can pick up the motor for $1500, a nice shell for a grand, and for under 5k you can run dam near 10's with stock motor and bottle.

Just my opinion here, but I think the FD is the best looking 2 door coupe sold in america. I have always wanted one, just not with a rotary. Secondly, I've driven a 2000 camaro, and it had so many rattles, cracks in the dash, horrible interior, and every redneck has one. Corvettes arent mush better in any of the above catagories. I looked at C5 Z06's and the cheapest one I found was $20k which is a good bit more than I paid for this, I went and drove it and didn't like anything about it other than the hp. The most common question I get asked when driving, is what kind of car is that? I love that its so rare, people dont even know what it is. The next thing they can't believe is that its nearly 18 years old.
I've had 240's with KA-t, SR, and RB... before all the fanboys jumped on the bandwagon. Had I not owned so many, and if I had a small budget, I'd probably look to do what you suggested.
