Take the front bumper brace off the car. That has to be at least 15-20 lbs..
Either get a aftermerket hood or forget it. Cutting the shit underneath off will be a bigger pain in the ass vs. the little improvement you may get.
Also take a healthy shit before you run next time !

get fiberglass fenders but without the stupid z3 vents
get the fiberglass/cf hood.
lexan rear hatch and rear side windows. sure its not street legal, but cover up the screws well and no one will ever know
im so thankful they make cf hoods and trunks for my car. doors soon too hahahah.

I am pretty sure there is nothing illegal about replacing your glass with lexan. Its safer than the glass.
There is federal legislation about what kind of glass you can use for vehicle windows and I think that is it. I think the state laws are all about visibility (tint, stickers, cracks, etc).
