Default Brake question

I am getting ready to do a brake job on my car and I have a question. I am would like to buy slotted rotors for my car. My question is to those out there that may know is if when it comes time to get new pads. Do I just get new pads. Or do I have to do the whole brake job(pads and rotors)?

Its just like before man, you just put on new pads till the rotors wear out. Its not like they are a matched set when slots or cross drilling is involved.

What the hell are you talking about? The slots are to remove debris from the pad, improving brake feel and initial bite. You treat them like regular brake rotors.

It is possible to cut slotted rotors, but you should be able to just run them down to their limit and replace them when they are out of spec.

As pointed out by OMG, the slots just improve performance but they still work just like regular rotors. The pads just pass over the slots, they don't work like a cheese grater, lol.

I went for both crossdrilled and slotted on my front rotors. When I change the rears I'll just do slotted in the back.

Summit makes a good cross drilled/slotted rotor for a decent price and hawk ceramic pads would be a nice upgrade over stock.

Go big or stay home, get a two-piece slotted. And if you have over-sized wheels utilize their purpose by putting over-sized brakes inside them. Otherwise stay in the ghetto.
