Default Anyone been to racing school?

just curious if anyone here has ever been. They're kinda expensive but seem worth it. I'm betting most of the reviews Ive read have somewhat of a stake in the company, such as getting a big discount to get in and see it for themselves or what have you.

Wondering what a regular guy may think/know of it.

So far I'm looking into Bob Bondurant and Oneill rally schools with the idea of hitting up both in the next year or so.

Know anyone with an expensive video camera? Offer free great PR in exchange for some lessons for your new documentary on SPEED.

In addition to schools such as Skip Barber and the like, many racing organizations have HDPE events where you can enter as a novice and get one on one instruction time which will be very similar to what any 'racing school' can give you.

If you haven't aready I'd recommend getting some auto-x time under your belt so you can get some practice time in before taking your car to the limit. You don't need to be racing around a high speed track before you even know what your limits are in a safer and slower environment.

Start by reading a few of the links on the following thread and then go on from there and feel free to ask any questions in the racing thread once you have a good grasp on the basics.

Damn typos, then again a high driver performance event could be rather interesting as well, lol.

If you want to do time trials or club racing, a school is the cheapest way to get there. Most clubs recognize other clubs licenses, so you don't have to dish out all the cash to do HPDEs till you get signed off for what ever you want to do.

I've done a few. They are worth it. The best and most affordable are the ones where you use your own car.

Everyone should go to a racing school. Learn to drive your car then ride along with somebody who knows how to drive drives your car. You will be shocked at what a talented driver can get out of a car that you thought you were pushing 95%.

And drive a stick. None of that pussy auto shit.

I was hoping you'd chime in Chuck and I was hoping you'd have went to one or two. Good to hear.

I have no idea why you think I want to drive auto.
