Where did you start with your car?
There are a lot of different routes to go when modifying a car. Everyone starts in different places. My question is, where did you guys start? Or if you have a new project on the way, where are you going to start?
A lot of the people on this site only have one car, so we will stick to it being your daily driven/modified car. And we will also suggest that its an older car, just to keep this interesting.
Personally, I think its best to start at wheels, suspension and braking. There's no point in having a fast car if you can't control it.

I usually start with things that I'm not satisfied with, whatever that is. After that its almost always intake and exhaust. Easy to install, adds a lot of fun, and usually improves economy as well.
Most of the time I will start with suspension and tires to reduce body roll and increase grip.
The truck , well its tall, so I put some step bars on, and a fiberglass topper with sliding windows for ease of rain free cargo moving.. next mod will be a factory Mopar fog light kit. about $250.
I guess I do things that are for comfort and usability mainly.. Not looking to be faster or bigger.. Keep everything stock/factory and it will last 100 times longer.
The mustang on the other hand, is as close to a frame off resto as you can get for a car that has no frame. the only thing left on the uni body at the moment is the gas tank.. and that is coming out soon. the car will be media blasted on a rotisserie and even have the underside re-coated.. It will take some years to finish it , but it will be done right , and might see only a few hundred miles a year when its done.
First thing I did that was an upgrade on something I wasnt happy with was got rid of the drop zone shocks and got some nice D2 coils. Before that, I had the clutch replaced because it was slipping, went from an OEM one to an exedy stage 1, just a step above OEM.
Depends on what area of your particular car is weakest or you are the least happy with. I personally really like mods with more "bang for the buck" that help in more than one area. Like an exhaust looks better and sounds better and also gives more power, or some lowering springs look better and improve handling too.
That said, I started out on mine with an intake and exhaust. Rolled that way for a year and went straight for the supercharger. lol (largely 'cause I found out it was being discontinued) After that was lowering, wheels/tires, brakes, and a different hood. Left most of the appearance mods for last.
