i do all i can because i can't really justify paying people to do shit i can do. if im unsure about something i'll buy beer and pizza for a professional to hang out and oversee what i'm doing... as the cars i work on are normally my dailys and i can't afford to be carless

I work on my car mostly by myself or with more knowledgeable friends if there is something that I don't know how to do and don't want to screw it up.

I don't work on my car as much anymore being that my company pays for half of all my repairs up to $500/yr. So I just take it somewhere to get fixed. Small shit I still do like brakes, tune up etc.. etc.. everything else I take it to Tuffy.

I'm a DIYer unless its something best left to the real professionals. I wouldlnt try and tune my own car without any prior experience and just reading knowledge, I wouldnt paint my own car if I wanted it to be perfect, I wouldnt tint my own windows because its cheap enough for someone else to do it and they wont fuck it up.

+1 on this... Also if your company pays for repairs its easier to just drop it off and let the professionals take care of it.

If I had the money, time, patience, and an extra DD, I would love to build a car. But then again, I'll be a chicken to break something since I can not afford an arm and a leg to replace it (parts, labor, or both). Otherwise, I'll take it to Cristiano Motorsports.

I try to do a lot of my own stuff. but since im rich i might as well pay someone else to do it.

I'm afraid to touch anything on the evo. But i'll do my own oil changes, spark plugs, etc. tune-up stuff im ok with. On my eclipse I could do my own work, but on the technical stuff, like clearances and stuff where torque specs are especially important, and stuff that I just plain didn't know how to do or I didn't have the tools to do it, I'd take it to darkside.

I just had the brakes, brake flush, and alignment done as well as new tires mount and balanced at Tires Plus. I didn't have time, nor did I want to mess anything up as regards to doing the brakes. Plus, I have a 90 day guarentee. I could have gotten new tires, pads, and rotors online and did the work myself for 300-400 less than going to Tires Plus, but I still would have needed an alignment, tires mount and balanced, and I wouldn't have any guarentee if something messed up.

I'm slowly trying to work on my supra myself. There's alot of good information on fourms about our cars. I'm more of a visual person so it helps me to see something done instead or reading about it. I just had a shop do the headgasket, becasue i didn't want to mess anything up. I'm hoping to do the next one by myself, and there will be another one.Lol.
