Default Need some advice - Good car sitting going to waste

Ok so here's the situation. My best friend from barbados living/working here after being done with college had a 98 honda civic 4 door ex that he owned. While living with his girlfriend his license got suspended due to some unpaid speeding tickets and after getting it renewed his insurance went up a bit. So basically he put the car in his girlfriends name and such to save on insurance. This was all fine until they had a bad break up. Now she moved to NY he moved back to barbados and the car's basically sitting here fully functional and wasting away. He was going to give it to me to sell/or buy from him and send him the money but guess what? She has the title and is basically refusing to give it up for spite. It's parked up in his aunts yard for the time being but the tags will be up in FEB at which time someone will tow it or they'll junk/abandon it. So technically it's abandoned right now. Is there anything legally I can do to get ownership of this vehicle?

Cliffs for the lazy people
-Best friend has working 98 Civic ex 4 dr. car he put in his girlfriend's name to save couple bucks on insurance
-They have bad break-up, she moves to NY and he moves back to barbados and leaves the car here.
-she isn't coming to get the car doesn't care what happens to it but won't give up the title so it can be sold(typical woman behavior)
-Car is abandoned and I want to know what I can do legally to get ownership of this vehicle.

Have you tired talking to the girlfriend? Call her up and be like "Well this car is sitting in my yard and I want it, so can I have the title"

Send her a certified notice that starting as soon as she receives the letter she will be charged per day said amount of money for storage fees and the vehicle will not be released to her unless it is paid in full.....or sign over the title lol.

This is what I was thinking and then research if a mechanic's lean or some sort of lean could be put on it. I bet she let's go of it then or see you in small claims court.

Spite in a woman means holding on to what she doesn't want to let go of which is him. As long as she has the car then she still has a piece of him.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

she doesn't deserve shit.

even though she saved him some cash, shes also wasted his time seeing that he cant do anything with the car. that is money out his pocket.

send her a bill for storage notarized and see what she does.

Tried offering her some cash but she says that she claims she's misplaced the title and needs to get a copy of it. She keeps making inferences that she wants me to pay her first, like am stupid enough to do that.

call a tow yard and ask how they handle it. I know they keep them in their custody for about 90 days then get a title of destruction from the state to scrap em out. see what they do or what venues they go through to obtain permission to do what they want with the car.
