I believe I avoided an attempted theft last night.

Default I believe I avoided an attempted theft last night.

Buyer flaked. No show & no call.

So, I reviewed the text message and recording of phone call (I use googlevoice and record everything) and I believe I avoided an attempted theft. The buyer kind of rubbed me the wrong way by asking for the address 3x late last night in a repetitive and aggressive tone, I told him that I would give it to him in the morning. In the mean time I arranged a stage address to use so I did not give out the address to where my CRX is stored, or any address for that matter since they never called. I also arranged for a Russian friend with a concealed to be available to go with on the test drive, in case thieves have now escalated to car jacking. I was not willing to take any chances on this one.

I'm a bit paranoid about these matters with so many other cars and bikes showing up missing. However, I'm mostly posting this to see if anyone else who has had a theft or an attempted theft had a similar experience.

Cliff Note's:
*Probably avoided theft attempt.
*Buyer seemed suspicious, trust your gut on these things guys.
*Asked for my address 14+ hours ahead of meeting time, multiple times.
*Be careful, thieves are likely trolling Craigslist.
*Has anyone who has had a car stolen experienced a similar happening?

Feel free to think that. However, my Honda is still not stolen. Obviously I'm doing something right.

Thats a tough call. I think you are doing it right.

Just a reminder that on the buyers side they may feel you are trying to run something on them as well.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Cite, "theft concerns" and any legitimate buyer will more than likely agree they'd do the same thing. There was no cause for alarm with the buyer, everything I've mentioned was behind the scene.

True but with the economic times the way they are ... it changes things. Who knows why they wanted the address that night instead of waiting till the morning.

Like I said you are setting it up right to meet with them at a staged address that is not where you have the car. I've done the same thing.

btw I emailed a friend who is looking for a CRX the link to your TR for sale post. maybe you'll hear from him. just a heads up he lives out of State.

The even better part, his name is Vladimir. This shit is too ridiculous for even me to make up.

He's an even more paranoid gun-toting republican and volunteered actually.
