Cars you would never drive, no matter what...
I agree 100% with your last 2 posts Jordan.
I drive a clients '10 escalade hybrid every once in a while and it is extremely well put together.
I will prob. never buy another german car unless it's brand new with a warranty, and ditch it as soon as it's up.
my girls 04 passat is such a pile of shit. it dosn't accelerate 100%, it just surges and shit. pretty much every light is on in the dash. airbag light just came on. axles click, headlights went out, it smells like oil, all that cheap coating shit on the interior is peeling. not that she takes awesome care of it, but if it were a japanese equivilant, none of those issues would be there i'm sure of it.
i had a BABIED porsche boxster... 2000 with 40k on it. water pump takes a shit at 43,000. the trans was replaced under warranty at 10k or so, rear main seal was replaced at around 10k also. ignition switch was replaced at about 20k and I also had to replace it at 47k. My alarm would go off randomly once every month or so. The soft coating all over the interior was also very sensitive, I was super careful to try and keep it perfect. I don't know where all this german quality actually is in these cars.

emphasis on the BRAND NEW part.
We'd have brand FUCKING new Porsche 997's comming in with a damp rear main. Like are you serious. Brand new 987 Boxsters burning oil. I'm glad I got out of mine before it cost me a 5-8k USED engine. I got off lucky with 10,000 miles with only 2 oil changes (which cost like $90 a peice for ME to do them), a water pump at cost (which still cost ME about 3xx to put in myself) and an ignition switch that cost about 20-30 bux (theyre about 200 at the stealership though)
The build quality actually licks my nuts from first hand experience.

rear mains do get damp in those quicker then a 90yr olds mattress. the only vehicles i really trust quality wise is either toyota, honda, or chevy.
