I blame VW and the owner lol seriously an epic fail. Hacking your wheel up to get a lug nut off has to be one of th dumbest things I have ever seen. I wouldnt have even thought about that.

Nope. I think this takes the cake.

This was posted on a Corvette forum. Some guy was seriously planning to do this, or as an elaborate hoax.

Ford Festivas have lug bolts as well. It has nothing in common with any of the other cars mentioned. I have no idea to this day why Ford did that..

ford didnt, kia made that car and mazda made the drive train (kia pride and mazda 121). it says "made in korea" on the firewall and on the aspire it says "made by kia motors" on the hatch, that should explain alot. and LOL cuz i still have a ton of the 14mm lug studs for a festy or aspire.

theres nothing really wrong with lug studs, my fb rx7 had them too and i never had problems with them.

You sound like a wikipedia. If I could buy it at a Ford car lot, Ford ok'd it to be sold under their name.. but if a lesser brand of kia wants to take credit for engineering the lug studs , so be it. Either way it was 80's engineering and on a ford.. which goes to show not only "high end" European cars are subject to the lamness of the design.

Why wouldnt you find a drill bit just a bit smaller than the diameter of the lug shank, drill it all the way through, then use an easy out to remove the remaining thin wall and threads?

Why in gods name would you cut the wheel? even if you had to pull the hub from the suspension and get at it from the back or something like that.
