Smoothed & Wrinkle Painted Valve Cover
Smoothed & Wrinkle Painted Valve Cover
So I was bored yesterday and figured I would keep myself busy with a small project. I went to the junkyard and picked up a valve cover for $19.99, a can of self-etching primer ($2.99), Krylon wrinkle black paint (7.99) and got to work.
This is what I started with:
After about 5minutes with the grinder this is what it had turned into.
I spent a little time scuffing up the rest of the valve cover and wet sanded the surface. Just to make sure everything was smooth.
Then after a couple thin layers of primer and a few heavy coats of the wrinkle paint this is what I ended up with.
I think it turned out great, I'm not sure what I'm going to be using it on but oh well. Slap a nice aluminum spark plug cover and stainless bolts onto it and I'd say it'll look pretty fancy!

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

you can paint over the wrinkle with another color too and have it come out in a wrinkle red or something. gold maybe
