Smoothed & Wrinkle Painted Valve Cover
So I was bored yesterday and figured I would keep myself busy with a small project. I went to the junkyard and picked up a valve cover for $19.99, a can of self-etching primer ($2.99), Krylon wrinkle black paint (7.99) and got to work.
This is what I started with: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...6/DSC02853.jpg After about 5minutes with the grinder this is what it had turned into. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...6/DSC02854.jpg I spent a little time scuffing up the rest of the valve cover and wet sanded the surface. Just to make sure everything was smooth. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...6/DSC02855.jpg Then after a couple thin layers of primer and a few heavy coats of the wrinkle paint this is what I ended up with. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...6/DSC02856.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...6/DSC02858.jpg I think it turned out great, I'm not sure what I'm going to be using it on but oh well. Slap a nice aluminum spark plug cover and stainless bolts onto it and I'd say it'll look pretty fancy! |
Looks good. I was thinking on doing that to mine!

Dam this is something that would be a good project, nice work it looks great.

I might do that as my full exterior paint on the daily driver.
