i really hate to inform you that gts are SIX-CYLINDER. and dont get one mitsubishis suck as cars( i dont have anything against them they just break down a lot) and i doubt it would even be faster. why dont you save your money and make your prelude fast. A nice type s swap from japan sounds good. doesent everyone agree that he should drive around in a type s prelude rather than a slow six cylinder eclipse

Actually it is just the opposite. 90-91 Eclipse GST and GSX bottom ends are just about indestructable under most peoples budgets. The non-turbo 2.0L is basically the Neon motor and most anyone on here who knows anything about DSMs will steer you clear of that motor. Anything is okay when left stock but if you are an enthusiast interested in modifing a car (and having one with potential) it is in your best interest to stray away from the non-turbo DSMs. There is not much one can do to the newer Eclipse v6 but there is a turbo kit out (or in the final stages of development) for the 4cyl SOHC new Eclipse. Stick with the Lude or trade it for a newer Integra GSR or something if you want solid advice. The end choice is up to you we are here to give you every side of the story as we know it. You shall make the final choice based on all you have learned.

Things to consider: the Eclipse looks really cool but its large and heavy compared to any Honda out there. However it has a large V-6 with lots of torque unlike pretty much any Honda/Acura made. (just kidding guys take it easy!) So my guess is that you could still do a lot with this car to make it as fast as you want it. This engine screams for a turbo or twin turbo setup but I have no idea if anyone makes one for it. For mod options the Honda probably wins just because theres so much shit out there.

We looked at these cars but bought the Celica instead but its my fiances car so we were shopping more looks/price/ reliability than performance so it may not be a fair comparison. I was impressed with the quality compared to older Mitsus but it still wasnt up to Honda/Acura or Toyota standards. And I dont know about long term reliabilty... my guess is older Mitsus were not so great but the new ones without the high-strung turbos will be better.
Dang it hit Clear Fields by accident.

Short this time:
1) H22A is the Honda motor that DOES have torque
2) V6 Eclipses SUCK
3) Buy a 2g Eclipse Turbo if you want an Eclipse
4) If not buying 2g Eclipse Turbo KEEP Prelude
5) Put a Revhard Turbo kit on your Prelude

Good luck.
