Dude as it has been said here many times before... get what you like. You are the one who has to drive it every day. Things to consider: the Eclipse looks really cool but its large and heavy compared to any Honda out there. However it has a large V-6 with lots of torque unlike pretty much any Honda/Acura made. (just kidding guys take it easy!) So my guess is that you could still do a lot with this car to make it as fast as you want it. This engine screams for a turbo or twin turbo setup but I have no idea if anyone makes one for it. For mod options the Honda probably wins just because theres so much shit out there.
We looked at these cars but bought the Celica instead but its my fiances car so we were shopping more looks/price/ reliability than performance so it may not be a fair comparison. I was impressed with the quality compared to older Mitsus but it still wasnt up to Honda/Acura or Toyota standards. And I dont know about long term reliabilty... my guess is older Mitsus were not so great but the new ones without the high-strung turbos will be better.

Short this time:
1) H22A is the Honda motor that DOES have torque
2) V6 Eclipses SUCK
3) Buy a 2g Eclipse Turbo if you want an Eclipse
4) If not buying 2g Eclipse Turbo KEEP Prelude
5) Put a Revhard Turbo kit on your Prelude

where would one get a rev hard turbo kit from....(chismoe)...oh ya my car is tiptronic sportshift...so i dont know if that would be good or not...thats a good idea about the trading for a gsr though....hmmm...
