the TV interview with the exec from Chevy said that "the $40k price tag was reasonable when you consider the $7500 from the Gov't and that puts it in the same price range as the Camaro"....this is the kind of thinking that put and keeps Chevy at the bottom of the barrel in the auto industry....Are they that fucking dumb to think that the buyer pool for the Volt is the same as for the Camaro????

So 365 days X ten years = 3650

3650 X .40/day = $1460....

So 40 cents of electricity per day.......... how much for gas per day?

...........is this before Obamas "Cap and trade"/Tax and Kill/Co2 tax
on both gasoline and electricity?

What numbers am I missing here?......

Also, it says that you can go 40 miles on strait electric so that would mean there is no MPG becuase there are no gallons being used. The 230 mpg has to be total
I honestly don't think it will get that much lower. They will probably sell a decent amount to people that have money to burn and think being 'green' is so hot right now. Look at when the Prius first came out. They were selling them over sticker and still had waiting lists.

And yeah if you go less than 40 miles and then recharge the thing it won't use any gas. Its only when the battery dies that it kicks over to conventional power.

yeah your probably right about the price thing. Id like to see a more affordable electric or hydrogen car out there but id be surprised if chevy is the one to actually do it first.

If you had your choice of a proven green vehicle or this from chevy for the same price which would you go with??? I like th volt, have ever since I saw it the very first concept...but as a consumer, I will go with the proven tech from Honda and others based on chevy's previous products.....

Ford gets it, they can't do what everyone else is doing they need to do BETTER to attract customers back....Chevy still hasn't gotten that fact....

Hmm.. not to thrilled with the Electric hybrid cars they are coming out with.. yes save gas.. save the environment but dam rape who ever wants to buy one..

you can still get a cheap Hyundai for under 10k new.. Sorry but there is no way in hell i could throw 40K at a new car to save money on gas.. I will stick to my 90Hp 5-speed hondas.. Sorry..

And some people like me put way over 40 miles on there car a day.. or sometimes even more then 300 a day.. so... this car just cant cut it for me...

thats versus 40miles on gas at say 25mpg per day = 1.6 gallons per day at 2.50 is $4 a day = over 14,600

So it cost 90% less at 2.50 a gallon.

I think this car is geared as a family car, thats where their target consumer income is at. They aren't trying to market this car to broke ass ricers. I would consider buying this as my daily/get my ass to work car. I really want to see the consumer reviews and reliability issues if any.

After the initial 40 miles on the battery charge, it doesn't switch to conventional power, instead, it kicks on a small engine used to generate electricity to power the car. The engine doesn't directly drive the car like it would on the Prius or insight.
