in uncertain times like these id much rather have 1 steady bill (car payment) vs 1 steady and one fluctuating (gas + car payment). i dont consider that a very good arguement personally. With uncertain times id almost count on gas prices doing what they did before, again. Id also be willing to throw a little extra down on getting 100% of my vehicle money back into OUR economy..

To bad I hate chevy, Hopefully ford comes out with a good one

For those who have expressed a preference for hydrogen-powered cars- you should look at this car in a different light. I also believe that hydrogen is the most promising and flexible energy storage solution in the mid-term future, but for the near future it's not practical. This Volt is a nice interim solution in that it completely decouples the engine from the wheels. Any source of energy could drive this car after the batteries run low, including a hydrogen fuel cell. Cars like this can only help emerging energy storage solutions and alternative fuels because any energy source can be bolted in with fewer changes to the basic design of the car. Hydrogen/ bio-diesel/ ethanol-specific versions could be cost effective for GM to produce even in small numbers for early adopters. Just the way I see it.

Good way to put it in regards to the money in OUR economy. If I were to use the Volt in my normal week...and my employer would NOT let me plug it in at work....I would still only use 1 gallon of fuel per week. 4 gallons of fuel per month and 48 gallons per year. Thats pretty astonoshing. The additional charges for electricity would go into the US economy and even possibly the local economy since I am on the Withalacotchie electric.

IMO though they still need to get total cost down and then increase the battery range to over 60 miles.
Im sure Ford has something...they will just let Chevy test the market...lol. No sense in making two potential bombs at once.
