Ford dumping spark plugs in favor of focused light?
lol........they need to do more research on cam-less heads. that would really boost fuel efficiency and make tuning almost virtually limitless. it would put alot of people out of business though.
I hope you're joking
There's an extremely little amount to gain in the spark area of engines. The biggest advantage this would have is individual combustion chamber monitoring, which BMW uses through the spark plug on the M5 for instance. Unless this eliminates the ignition coil, which I doubt, the only wear part its replacing on modern cars is the spark plug itself, which is quite simply the least expensive part to replace.
I dont see big changes ahead, even if it DOES work. How expensive are these stupid things, and are they still as easy to replace as spark plugs?

I'm guessing they're either still too expensive to mass produce and/or not reliable enough, which is why we havent seen them. One of the higher ups at an SAE conference I went to hinted that Chrysler--among others--uses one to get the powerband they aim for, then make a cam to those specs.

I must rep you for this and steal it for my sig as well. Haha
I do think this is stupid though. If one of these go out, I'm sure its going to cost at least a couple hundred or more per cylinder while spark plugs start at $2.
In your V6 mustang?

Not so much

I believe they changed the head for all 3v modulars. I don't know about the v6 though.
No forced induction. I wish lol. The heads? or the spark plug? The spark plug should be 25ft/lb. The good news is that there's a tool out there to get the plug out. The bad news is that it happens so often, there's a tool out there to get the plug out.

Do you have forced induction? Whats the factory torque spec on the heads?
