Girlfriend and I got in the car today and before we got out of the driveway I noticed the brakes felt weird so I jumped out and looked under the driver side fender and there was a leaking brake line! So I took it to the shop and they lifted it and it looks like something had been chewing on the damn thing!

So I think the raccoons have it out for me , now for a question:

Is $140 plus tax a decent price for one new brake line, bleeding and flushing the brakes and labor or am I getting ripped off? Thanks guys and if you see any raccoons kick em for me

 

im going to say rip off cause theres always someone that will do it for cheaper. what kind of car?

 

99 Saturn SL1, the guy said they match any price so if I can find somewhere that does it cheaper before I pick it up tomorrow then I can save some money

Well here's the situation, took the car to the shop right down the road since I didnt want to chance driving it too far. They looked at it and told me the problem but said they didnt have the exact part(break hose I guess) but they would get it in tomorrow and everything would cost $140 plus tax and If I found a shop that would do it for less they would match the price.

So we walked home, I didnt pay anything yet, and I called around to other shops but no one was opened . I have to be at work Monday at 3:00pm so I need the car drivable by then. I wouldnt mind paying someone else to do it(if it's less $) but I don't know how I would get the car anywhere since I can't drive it in the state that it's in.

So I guess I'm kinda backed into paying them the money... unless someone knows of a shop that I can get a lower quote from so he will match the price. I hate wasted Saturdays

 

the shop is local to you correct? shop has pack of brake line eating racoons. shop releases racoons, instant profit.
