Default Aif filter media....

OK folks, lets get some opinions on air filters. What kind do you prefer, and why? Paper (OEM), gauze/oil (K&N), steel mesh (BLitz), foam (HKS), or any other kinds. Any that you dont like or think should be avoided.

The best filter you can do is wall insulation. Just shove a bunch of it in your intake pipe and you're good to go.

This is misleading... you only need enough to fill your intake tube about 2" deep.

How about just wrapping the TB with it...why bother with the tube?

On a weird crap in the intake note...years ago I worked at an oil change/car wash. When we opened this one guys airbox to check his filter the whole bottom half was full of ping pong balls. Swear to god, ping pong balls. When asked about them he went into some rant about air flow dynamics, NASA, and some other random crap.

That was the second best find at the place...first was the 2 loaded Colt 1911s this really old guy had under his driver side floor mat.

After taking apart my expensive HKS dome filter and realizing what a total piece of shit it was, especially compared to my $10 eBay filter, I've noticed with cone filters that the less the filter costs, the higher quality it is.

on the bmw's i run oem filters cheaper and no notable gains with other filters or intake sets ups. the porsche same. but for both i'm looking into a K and N dry filter set up (new reuseable non oil filters). the lexus oem because i like it quiet and dyno proven no gains stock intake with stock filter vs upgraded filter vs aftermarket intake
