the old cart track on the roof at daytona beach boardwalk...when all the other tracks frown on car contact they used to spray water on the corners and laugh like hell at the deliberate crashes.sometimes theyd even come out and get in the cars and "help"

 

I was told by Jeremy Weibel (track manager at Lakeland Motorsports Park) that the area directly behind the Rooms To Go warehouse on I-4 used to be the old original Tampa Dragstrip. Jeremy's dad used to crew for Don Garlits back then in the 1950's and that's where some of drag racing's legends were started.

 

not there anymore, well atleast not most of it. there is only a couple hundred feet left, and you have to drive through tall bushes/weeds to get to it. Its right across from my house and is only good for motorcycle stunting.

has anyone been to the ford test track? its now harley davidson, are they still working there or have they abandoned it?

this photo was taken in 2006 (not mine), the biker doing about 110mph on the 2.5mile straight. he did not hit the bear.

i hope to go when i get back to florida

Since I've started this thread, I already checked out the abandoned airport strip on 54.

I'm surprised noone mentioned it yet. But remember talking about the old dragstrip off South/North(?) Mobley road a few years ago on here?
