You're off on your facts by a little there sunshine, I definitely see a faster GT3 and NSX on that list. I assume you do actually mean the Nurburgring.

You are absolutely correct cupcake... There are quite a few GT3's that will beat or stomp a mud hole in the new camaro's lap times.. But the 993 GT3 is not one of them. Honey buns I dont know if you noticed the citations next to all the NSX's that ran faster than 8:20 all had modifications of some sort, no airbags, no accessories, no spare tire, etc... Probably other mods unlisted... Hardly a fair comparison. Simply giving everyone an idea of what this car can do. That actually wasn't the list I was looking at. But it'll do.. It beat the EVO VI and VII, the S5, Cayman S, Lotus Exige S, BMW M Coupe, M3 E46, 350Z... etc... Not by much but enough... Just making sure the camaro gets credit where credit is due... It truly has entered a sports car class while still being a muscle car.

And being a well versed chevy guy.... and for anyone who knows anything about the LSX engines... knows that these engines are just waiting to be opened up with some head porting and a nice cam shaft.. Expect 460-490 rwhp with a bolt ons and a moderately aggressive cam. Insane..

Best Camaro ever made in terms of performance. I love the new look. I wish they weren't quite so bulky, but oh well, still a sweet car.

I would say that Camaro is now back on top of the Mustang, but the last generation before they stop making them did not deserve to be called a camaro....Mustangs were better for that short stretch IMO

 

Wait? mustangs were better? Which mustangs are you looking at? and they didn't deserve to be called camaro's? The 4th generation camaro's were only 2nd to the 1st gen camaro.

 

Back in the 90's the Mustang was a way better car than the Camaro in my opinion. I drove a 5.0 305 Camaro RS and a LX 5.0 'stang back then. The Mustang was a WAY better car all around.

305 RS was one step above the v6. The camaro was available with 4 motors. Dont compare fords flagship motor to a baseline v8.

You need to compare a Z28 to a 5.0 LX.

Comparing mustang's 5.0 vs chevy's 5.7TPI .. Yeah as far as overall performance, cost, ease of working on the engine, power to displacement ratio etc.... the late 80's early 90's mustangs had better engines. Gotta tip my hat to Ford for those years.

I don't care for the looks of them... as to me to camaro looked better but those year mustangs were hard to beat overall...

When the LT1's and especially the LS1's came out is a different story though. That was an ass raping.

Course I think Ford will probably make a come back if they don't go bankrupt... since GM has the Government Bailout fist shove up their ass which will make them probably only manufacture Geo metro's from now on.

 

I'd take any v8 stang ever built over the 3rd generation camaro/firebird. Just because I thought the 3rd gen's looked like shit. My first car was a firebird with that POS 305. The 4the generation fbody owned every mustang except the 03-04 cobra
