How is the maintenance cost of an SC300 high? Half of the SC300's on the road are 200K+ miles without proper maintenance and still running. Personally if you only had 1-2K budget for mods then I wouldn't go anywhere near an Sc300.

Is the maintance on a SC300 realy high? I never thought so, and as for the BMW, no thanks, lovely car, but I don't Thanks though.

Kirk - I said simple modifications, sorry if I mixed you up. When I say simple mod's, I mean; alarm, basic aftermarket stereo system set up, tint, a slight suspension drop, and a simple exhaust for a deeper tone. (The SC300 already sounds pretty nice for a stock car) I'm pretty sure I could manage those "mods" for $2000.00, keeping in mind I can do all the work my self. But my hands wont ever touch the motor, unless its something basic (oil change, coolant lines, belts, tune up's, etc, etc)

Thanks again everyone!

And I useto own a 91 Miata, amazing cars! But no room for luggauge at all. But haveing two cars isnt a bad idea...

But not sure if its for me.

Oh and I like the idea of the Mustang. I'd want the a 5.0 gt, or a cobra only, so the gas might hurt for the trips.

gas really isn't that bad in them. I would throw camaro's/ trans ams into the mix. plenty of power, good on gas with the 6 speed. Also there is plenty of room for ur stuff.

Maintenance on an SC300 is no more than on a Supra. As long as you could get your hands on a nice clean one then you have nothing to worry about. It is a VERY reliable car. If you ever decided you wanted to make some power then it will be a perfect platform as they come with the 2JZ motors which are capable of putting down up to 800rwhp reliably on a stock bottom end.

Yeah I guess you're right.

"Ford Focus - Awards

Since its launch the Focus has won over 60 awards including 13 Car of the Year awards in both Europe and North America, and more recently, the best family car ever (Autocar UK 2003). The Focus was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for five consecutive years (2000 through 2004).

The North American version has been a favorite of Car and Driver magazine, which has elected it to its Ten Best list every year since its introduction in 2000. Motor Trend magazine has also given the Focus favorable reviews, writing comments like "As entry-level sedans go, few can touch Ford's Focus on the fun-to-drive front."

In 2001 and 2002, Focus was the world’s best selling car.
The Focus also won the subcategory of Best Compact Family Car in the same awards."

Nothing wrong with a Focus, especially as a daily driver.

For a $7-8K SC300. It'd probably need some stuff to make it right. I'm sure a power window motor, starter, tail light housing, brake caliber, etc would cost more than most non-premium brand cars. I dunno maybe I'm wrong. But I'd bet its cheaper to own and maintain a Mustang GT than a SC300. Unless you count the bald rear tires that you'll have with the Mustang. And the hit in insurance premiums with the GT, as most younger drivers would get slammed there.
