Default problem starting 2005 745i BMW

hey im over here in las vegas and a family members bmw wont start, i havent looked at it yet because it was dark out last night. from what they say you get in (it uses a smart key) and push the start engine button and it just clicks or something. so i definitely think its the starter. they're are hesitant about me changing it because they dont know if removing the starter will trip some sensor and shut the car down or log something on the car and prevent them from purchasing another warranty. also, because the car uses no actual key there is no way to disengage the shift lock, so the car wont move an inch, is there anyway to bypass this so i can move it in the garage?

and if its not the starter is there any other common malfunctions with these cars that would prevent it from starting?

this is pretty much the exact car, same color different rims.

You can jump it like a normal car, my 05 530's battery died, and I jumped it like normal.

on most bmers, they will have a separate positive terminal for u to use instead of going off the battery if its in the trunk. and the negative just goes to any ground obviously

usually under the backseat, but yeah, theres normally a terminal in the hood. somewhere. bright red, might say positive lead...you know...that sort of thing.

If the battery is that dead, they may have some driveablity issues with it until everything is re-learned (driving habits, radio stations, tranny shift points etc) might take up to 50 miles of driving before it gets back to their version of "Normal"
